How to Tint Your Windows
Quick Tips
- Cleaning your windows and the surrounding areas thoroughly, before installing the tint, is extremely important. See the video below on cleaning your windows
- Install your tint in a clean, dust free location
- We recommend using around 1 0z of baby shampoo for a 24 oz spray bottle
- when using a sharp razor blade, it’s ok to cut on the car window, just don’t push too hard
- Shrinking the tint on the side windows helps prevent fingers.
- While we recommend using a heat gun to heat shrink your tint, a hair dryer could also be used
- When shrinking tint to any window, make sure the side of the tint with the clear liner is facing out
- Tint only shrinks to the factory edges.
- The factory edges are the two straight, parallel edges on the sheet of tint your patterns are cut on. Pay attention to the direction your patterns are facing on the sheet of tint, as the tint will only shrink to the factory edges
- It can be easier for beginners to shrink a window using a rag first, and then following up with the hard card.
- Avoid tinting your windows in direct sunlight on a warm day–the water evaporates too quickly and makes it difficult, if not impossible, to adjust your tint pattern
- The best time to tint your windows is in the morning when it is still relatively cool
- The best temperature to tint your windows is between 60 and 80 degrees
- While there are other methods available, we prefer to use a dryer sheet when shrinking the back window
- Keep the exterior of the tint wet while squeegeeing out the water from behind the tint to reduce friction and avoid scratching the tint
